Building on the foundation of skills learned in the Certificate II in Auslan (PSP20218), this course prepares you for advanced Auslan studies and equips you with the ability to communicate confidently in a variety of settings.
There is a growing demand for qualified Auslan interpreters across Australia to ensure equal access to communication for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. By completing this course, you will gain the skills needed to meet this critical need and make a meaningful impact in diverse sectors such as education, healthcare, and public services.

Annemarie O’Connell – has over 24 years experience as a Teacher of the Deaf in signed and facility settings, an Educational consultant for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students , and teacher of Auslan since 2019. She recently moved into Adult education and joined the team at DVLC, working as a trainer both on site and in business settings.
Gary Holmfield.- has been teaching Auslan since 2010, firstly with Expression Australia (formerly the Victorian Deaf Society) and later with the Diamond Valley Learning Centre since 2015. He has been involved with several Deaf organisations within the Deaf community and has a passion for Australian Deaf History.

In addition, students are expected to complete approximately 15 to 20 hours per week for individual study, online learning, reviewing class material, preparing assessments, and review of sign learned in class.
