Auslan (sign language) is the language of the Australian deaf community. If you know someone who is deaf or if you are interested in sign language, this course is for you.
Diamond Valley Learning Centre provides Auslan classes for interested learners. Our classes offer basic skills in communicating with members of the deaf community. You will learn how to fingerspell, develop a vocabulary of basic conversational signs and more.

Auslan for Beginners is an introductory course offering you a good foundation in day-to-day language and signing tools. Signs you will learn include:
Classes are related and taught by experienced Auslan teachers. You will have lots of chances to practice. Come by yourself and make new friends or come as a family or group and learn together.
Basic Fee: $250 (Basic fee: $65 + Materials & Admin: $185)
Concession Fee: $230 (Conc fee: $50 + Materials & Admin: $185)
Full Fee: $410 (for those who do not qualify for government funding, ie. overseas residents and school students).
*Concession fee applies only if you have a current Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Veteran’s Gold Card.

To finalise your enrolment, you will be asked to present your Medicare card at reception for us to sight and photocopy. This is for proof of Australian residence purposes. Concession card holders will also need to present their concession card.
