How can I learn Auslan in Melbourne?

You can learn Auslan in Melbourne through Diamond Valley Learning Centre (DVLC), located in Greensborough. We offer both non-accredited short courses and accredited certificate programs taught by qualified Deaf trainers. Options include Sign Language for Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced, as well as Certificate II and Certificate III in Auslan. You can also join our free monthly Auslan Corner practice group to build your confidence in a relaxed environment.

What’s the difference between short courses and accredited Auslan training?

  • Short Courses (non‑accredited): Informal classes focused on practical vocabulary and everyday conversation. Great for personal development, casual learning, or workplace use.

  • Accredited Courses (Certificate II & III): These follow the national training framework and provide formal qualifications — ideal for careers in interpreting, community services, or education

Do I need any prior experience to join a beginner Auslan class?

Not at all! Our Sign Language for Beginners short course is designed specifically for first-time learners. No prior Auslan experience is needed — you’ll build your skills from the ground up.

What’s the location and format of your Auslan classes?

All in-person classes take place at Diamond Valley Learning Centre in Greensborough, VIC (1 Diamond Creek Road). Our group trainings are offered onsite at partner locations, depending on requirements.

Is DVLC an accredited provider of Auslan qualifications?

Yes! Diamond Valley Learning Centre (DVLC) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 3769) and delivers accredited Auslan courses in Victoria. We currently offer:

  • Certificate II in Auslan (PSP20218)

  • Certificate III in Auslan (PSP30218)

Our courses are nationally recognised and delivered face-to-face by qualified Auslan trainers. DVLC is one of only two providers in Victoria offering accredited Auslan training.
