Welfare, Guidance and Student Services

Diamond Valley Learning Centre prides itself on providing quality education programs and support for students.

Course Selection

Intake and assessment interviews are held for students in VCE, VCAL, English as a second language, literacy and numeracy, and certain VET courses.

Student Support Groups
Other student support include confidential support groups for students who require additional assistance, on going course advice and information and  VTAC and other career and course advice for students during the year. 

Course Information and Referral

At the centre, students can also access TAFE, university and other up-to-date course and referral information. Free access to computers for study purposes is available during designated sessions for students enrolled in certain courses.
Students who need guidance on any matter relating to their welfare can speak to their course Coordinator.  Coordinators may then refer students to other services for further assistance if necessary

Students also have access to the following services and Government programs:
• Getting Started – a short course for VCE & VCAL students which covers the essential skills for successful, stress free study including organisational skills, study skills and essay writing.
• Individual career counselling and resume preparation is available by appointment with a professional careers counsellor. Cost $55 per hour.
• A short course in job seeking skills is built into course where students study a complete vocational qualification.
• Free tea and coffee facilities for students
• Managed Individual Pathways [MIPS] for young people in the Youth Pathways Program [YPP].*
• Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP)*
• Pensioner Education Supplement (PES) *
• Australian Workskills Vouchers*

*Subject to eligibility of individual students , determined by Centrelink or external agencies.
